The role of the teacher in shaping the political consciousness of students

The article considers and analyzes the features of the process of forming students’ political consciousness in in social studies classes in schools. A comparative analysis of the normative legal acts of the Russian Federation legislation and the federal state educational standard of secondary general education is presented. Different approaches to the content of the term “political consciousness” are analyzed and the author’s definition is given. The main features that teachers need to pay attention to when studying certain sections and topics of the subject “Social Science” in the 9th grade of secondary school are described. The content of the textbook edited by Leonid Bogolyubov, as well as the teaching guide “Social Science. Lesson Plans. Grade 9” are considered. The author’s understanding of the methods of studying theoretical material corresponding to the fundamental knowledge of political science is given. Analytical conclusions are formulated based on the practical experience of the authors in the field of education.
