The role of demetaphorization in the translation of paremic units’ prescription

The article discusses the role of demetaphorizing in the translation of prescriptive component of paremic units, which are related to the category of hard-to-translate due to their difference both in conceptual content and prescription explication. Translationdemetaphorization as an intermediate stage of translation is a usual-literal normative translation, which is applied here as an instrument of metalinguistic analysis of the original unit. The analysis consists in studying the metaphorization mechanism of the ordinary as ethical postulates. Translation-demetaphorization greatly facilitates, firstly, the decoding of the prescriptive potential or a didactic value in the proverb, and secondly, the search and selection of appropriate proverbs-correlates. The author also compares certain images and attributes of the original proverb and its equivalents, which manifest similar moral attitudes and didactic value / function. Buryat-Russian-English correlations are taken to be a source of analysis.
