The article is devoted to the study of the novel «Pugachevschina» (1928) written by Sergey Auslender in the context of literature of the 1920-s about Pugachev's rebellion (S.Esenin «Pugachev», 1921; K.Trenev «Pugachevschina», 1924; I.Rukavishnikov «Pugachevschina», 1925-1929). It is indicated that there are some similarities and differences in the description of Pugachev and his close companions between the literary pieces. It is mentioned that the similarities between the works of Auslender, K.Trenev and I. Rukavishnikov are caused by the orientation on the emerging canon of Socialist Realism in soviet literature in the post-revolutionary period
