The article examines the attitude of right-wing conservative publicists and politicians to certain provisions of N. Ya. Danilevsky’s teaching: to the idea of species diversity of communities with alternative forms of self-expression; to the idea of denying the universality of world historical laws and a single history of mankind; to the idea of a significant difference between the Western European cultural and historical type and the Slavic one. Following the thinker of the mid-19th century, Russian rightists of the late 19th - early 20th centuries tried to identify and define the root of the confrontation between Orthodoxy and Catholicism. N. Ya. Danilevsky’s ideas, connected with the criticism of Western liberalism, democracy, and cosmopolitanism, found a lively response among right-wing conservative politicians and publicists. Many Russian conservatives were actively involved in popularizing the theory of N. Ya. Danilevsky. Developing the ideas of the Russian thinker about the differences between the cultural characteristics of Russia and the West, conservatives of the late 19th and early 20th centuries emphasized the importance of maintaining autocratic power in Russia.
