Barriers and opportunities for students in the labour market under contemporary economic conditions

Free access

In the context of rapid economic transformations and labor market digitalization, the issue of student employment becomes a key focus in shaping the professional trajectories of young specialists. University students and graduates face multiple barriers: lack of practical experience, mismatch between academic training and employer requirements, and excessive demands for entry-level positions. Simultaneously, new opportunities are emerging, including digital employer engagement, internships, and flexible career models. The institutional support of youth, especially students with disabilities, and the development of soft skills as a component of professional resilience gain relevance. The student labor market requires a comprehensive adaptation of regulatory mechanisms aimed at reducing marginalization risks, fostering social mobility, and integrating young people into the professional sphere. The study identifies the main barriers and opportunities in student employment and proposes strategies to improve employment models in the current economic environment.
