Self-education and self-development of the individual is an integral component in the education of graduate students in higher education. In the process of professional development they face tasks, formulate goals and strive to achieve them, but may experience various difficulties associated with a decrease in motivation or interest. Methods of self-deceptiveness - suggestion - allow to cope with the specified problems and to achieve the necessary result. The article examines the processes of self-education and self-development of personality among graduate students of HEI. Principles of self-deceptiveness and suggestive technologies (auto-training), aimed at the motivational sphere of personality, providing favorable conditions for the development of professional qualities of students, are analyzed. The aim of the study is to investigate the essence of self-education/self-development and methods of self-deceptiveness, the results of a survey on the choice of self-deceptiveness method, in which 167 first-year graduate students participated, are given.
