Semantic potential of taxis prepositions in German

This article is devoted to the description of the semantic potential of taxis (mono- and polytaxis) German prepositions vor, aus, wegen, aufgrund, dank, trotz, ungeachtet, mittels, per, zu, für, bei, in, mit, durch, unter. The article describes German taxis-forming prepositions in terms of their semantic potential. In this regard, the authors distinguish monotaxis prepositions characterized by monogenic adverbial semantics (causal, instrumental, concessive, consecutive, final) (see the prepositions aus, vor, wegen, aufgrund, dank, per, mittels, trotz, ungeachtet, infolge, zu, für ) and politaxis prepositions of heterogeneous (adverbial) semantics (see prepositions in, bei, mit, unter, durch). Monotaxis prepositions of causal semamtics, instrumental, concessive, consecutive, final semantics explicate one kind of taxis categorical situation of simultaneity: causaltaxis (prepositions aus, wegen, vor, aufgrund, dank), instrumental-taxis (prepositions per, mittels), trotz, ungeachtet), consecutive taxis (infolge), final taxis (zu, für). The polytaxis prepositions in, bei, mit, unter, durch can explicate several variants of taxis categorical situations of simultaneity: primary-taxis, causal-taxis, conditional-taxis, modal-taxis, instrumental-taxis and medial-taxis.
