The semantics of the city and village residents’ psychological space

The paper analyzes the results of a semantic study of the ideas of subjects living in various types of settlements concerning their lives by means of the construct of the psychological space of the person. The key theoretical theses on the research topic are considered. The main units of analysis of the data received are distinguished: descriptors and semantic universals. For a more correct study, a new unit was introduced - a constant as a universal semantic code. The research focuses on the content of the data obtained. The results are compared and separated for residents of the city and the village. The author proves that a different locality carries a different semantic code. The study revealed that the city residents have a slightly more diverse psychological space. However, despite all the differences, there are matches for the semantic code of the representatives of both types of locality.
