Family Story “Sir Cat” by S. N. Durylin: “The Meaning of Love” of Arina and Peter

The article analyzes the symbolism of the love line of the main characters of the novel by Sergei Nikolaevich Durylin (1886–1954) “Sir Cat” (1924) and its connection with the religious and philosophical ideas of the Silver Age. Special attention is paid to the influence of the concepts of K. N. Leontiev and V. V. Rozanov on the formation of the author’s worldview and artistic style of S. N. Durylin. In addition, the article examines the history of the creation of the novel, its place in the writer’s work and its connection with other works of that time. The author offers an original interpretation of the motivation for dedicating the story to N. V. Nesterov, revealing the deep connections between literature and art of the Silver Age.
