The article reveals the pedagogical possibilities of using situational and functional approach to the prevention of destructive behaviour among schoolchildren in the process of forming a spiritual and moral culture. The process of preventing destructive behaviour is proposed to be organized taking into account national and cultural traditions of the region based on the principles of multiculturalism, interethnic communication, good neighbourliness, and caring attitude to the native land in fostering spirituality and morality of the younger generation. These principles are implemented in a situation of pedagogical interaction that ensures the formation of teachers and students’ readiness to prevent destructive behavior. The analysis of positions of the key methodological approaches revealed the content and functions of prevention in a given area, the features of interrelations of this process with general and spiritual and moral culture and components of external environment, which are the basis for the development of conditions for using situational and functional approach to the prevention of destructive behaviour among schoolchildren. Its application makes it possible to build a productive educational situation and organize effective functional interaction of subjects of the educational and preventive process that ensures normative behaviour of schoolchildren and the formation of their spiritual and moral culture.
