The initiation plot in the novel "Volcano" by Klaus Mann

The article deals with realizing the initiation's plot in the exile novel "Volcano" by German writer Klaus Mann. The author explains that the novel's hero experiences the ignition twice; each time he leaves the world of living people and dies symbolically. Particular features of each initiation are analyzed, as well as their role in the hero's evolution. This line of the novel's plot is compared with realizing the initiation complex in the rite and in the folklore tale. Correlation between this complex and plot and space organization of exile novels is considered.
