The article is dedicated to epistemological and hermeneutic problems of laughter. Laughter is regarded as specific form of human activity aiming at cognizing the world and delimiting truth from lie and delusion. In educational process cognitive role of laughter is revealed in critical and emotional-entertaining aspects. All the characteristics mentioned above reveal laughter as an important factor in cognitive and, praimarily, educational process, as long as ability to laugh means not only formal knowledge about a thing or phenomenon, but many-sided and integral understanding.
