Life-purpose orientations of older adolescents: peculiarities of manifestation, age-sex differences

The article is focused on the study of life-purpose orientations of older adolescents in the context of the study «Novosibirsk in the space of childhood: characteristics, needs, interests of children of Novosibirsk». The problems of the age under study are discussed, in particular, concerning the value sphere of the personality of the older teenager. Analyzes the works of foreign and domestic scientists devoted to the study of problems of the semantic-life sphere of older adolescents, carried out over the past five years. A comparative analysis of adolescents' life-purpose orientations by sex is conducted, and the significance of differences is ascertained. The features of value priorities of adolescents in Novosibirsk are shown: reflection in the past, low awareness of the present moment, poor forecasting of the future, a vague vision of «The Self» in the future, a low level of goal-setting. The conclusion is that the situation requires centralized intervention in terms of shaping the sphere of consciousness of the older teenager, focusing on issues of civic education, creating conditions for teenagers to find their «Self» in the present moment.
