Media and Visual Culture through the Paradigms of Modernism(s): from Modernism through Postmodernism to Post-postmodernism and Hypermodernism

Darko Baštovanović, Branka Bešević Gajić, Stevan Lutovac

Scientific article

Departing from the premise that postmodernism does not disappear in the course of the historical demise of cultural–epistemological paradigms but is instead transversally incorporated into a new metanarrative of techno-aesthetic hypermodernity, this paper reconfigures the categorical foundations for the analysis of visual and media culture within the context of the post-postmodern transition. Its central thesis does not imply either a regressive reaffirmation of modernist formalism or a normative repair of postmodern fragmentation, but rather the articulation of an epistemologically expanded field within which postmodern poetics—including the simulacral, intertextual, pastiche-based, spectacular, and rhizomatic—are refunctionalized as the techno-ontological infrastructure of a new visual regime. Relying methodologically on heterogeneous yet compatible conceptual modules (assemblage / visual code / cyberspace / algorithmic affectivity), the authors approach media culture not as a phenomenological epiphenomenon, but as an apparatus-based formation of subjectivity in which the aesthetic, the political, and the technological are not separated, but operationalized through modes of digitally mediated (self-)representation. Within this discursive framework, the postmodern no longer exists as a historically “past” concept, but as a semiotic code undergoing algorithmic mutation—reconfigured within a hypermodern environment in which visuality has become the primary mode of affective and cognitive articulation of reality.

Medijsko pravo i sloboda javnog informisanja u Republici Srbiji

Medijsko pravo i sloboda javnog informisanja u Republici Srbiji

Dragan Bataveljić, Mitar Lutovac

Scientific article

Nanoinformatics, computer applications for nanomedicine

Nanoinformatics, computer applications for nanomedicine

Aleksandar Đorđević

Scientific article

Nanoinformatics emerged in the early 21st century as a response to the need for computer applications at the nano level. While nanomaterials offer the potential for developing new devices in various industrial and scientific fields, they also provide revolutionary perspectives in disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment in humans. This review paper analyzes different aspects of nanoinformatics with a special focus on nanomedicine. Another important aspect is the use of informatics in further advancing the biological and clinical applications of basic research in nanoscience and nanotechnology. Nanoinformatics can accelerate the development of the emerging field of nanomedicine, similar to what happened with the Human Genome and other -omics projects, through the exchange of modeling and simulation methods and tools, linking toxicity information with clinical and personal databases, or developing new approaches for scientific studies.

Opportunities and challenges of artificial intelligence application in investment arbitration

Opportunities and challenges of artificial intelligence application in investment arbitration

Milica Njegovan, Snežana Prelević Plavšić

Scientific article

Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly advancing, developing, and finding applications in various aspects of life and work. Some of the most significant social areas, such as law and dispute resolution, have not remained immune to the influence of AI. In this sense, both the positive aspects, useful elements, as well as the potential dangers and risks that this technology brings, are being increasingly considered. Arbitration, as a contractual and voluntary method of dispute resolution, presents fertile ground for the application of various technological solutions to accelerate and ease the process. Investment arbitration, which deals with resolving disputes between a host state and a foreign investor, has its specificities that need to be addressed in the context of AI application. Therefore, this paper provides a review of the benefits of AI in arbitration, analyzes its shortcomings and risks, offers an overview of certain smart tools available, and presents a general view on the ethical and legal regulation of AI application in arbitration. The conclusion of the paper is that the possibilites for further development and refinement of AI technology for use in arbitration are numerous, but should be approached cautiously. It will be necessary to devise an optimal, flexible regulation to standardize the rudimentary rules of AI application in order to meet the basic requirement: benefit for humanity and society, while respecting the specific values and principles on which investment arbitration is based.

Predstavljanje kulturnog nasljeđa kroz moderne medije: reprezentacija ilirskog nasljeđa i kraljice Teute

Predstavljanje kulturnog nasljeđa kroz moderne medije: reprezentacija ilirskog nasljeđa i kraljice Teute

Svjetlana Pravdić

Scientific article

Edukacija, radionice, školski programi i tim bilding u turističkom sektoru mogu doprinijeti osjećaju vrednovanja i pripadnosti.

Science, ethics and new emerging technologies

Science, ethics and new emerging technologies

Momcilo Bajac, Mirjana Fiser

Scientific article

In this paper, we will examine the relationship between science, ethics, and emerging technologies, with a particular focus on nanoscience and nanotechnology. Our goal is to demonstrate that all sciences, including these most recent ones, originate from philosophy, which has always strived to maintain an integral, holistic approach to reality. In contrast to philosophy, individual sciences gradually lose interest in philosophical views of a higher level of generality and a holistic approach to reality. As a result, sciences often neglect ethics and value judgments that assess the consequences of their activities and outcomes. Nanotechnology, along with other convergent technologies such as biotechnology, information technology, artificial intelligence, and neurotechnology, differs from other technologies in its ability to operate at the atomic and molecular levels. This enables its impact on the natural environment and the human organism to often remain beyond public awareness. Such a situation raises legitimate concerns and calls for addressing the issue of responsibility for the development of these technologies. Strict and organized action by the broadest possible public is needed to ensure the responsible development and application of nanotechnology. In this paper, we will consider potential coalitions for overseeing these technologies, as well as some key questions that must be answered before these technologies "slip" beyond our control. In this context, special attention will be given to promoting a multidisciplinary approach and involving various stakeholders from the fields of science, philosophy, ethics, and representatives of civil society in the decision-making processes related to the development and regulation of nanotechnology.

Security of the system for electronic learning

Security of the system for electronic learning

Igor Ristić, Aleksandar Radonić

Scientific article

Security is one of great problems in the creation and implementation of e-learning solution. As an end user is not able to see these problems, they are often neglected. As all other applications, e-learning portals are widely distributed and available to a wide audience, which makes them vulnerable in a way. As the concept of Web applications is very spontaneously developed without a detailed plan, and with great effort invested in development of programming languages and interpreters for Web applications, there is a danger from manipulation by malicious users.

Synthesis of art and media

Synthesis of art and media

Stevan Lutovac, Branka Besevic Gajic

Scientific article

This theoretical work deals with hybrid artistic practice and its determination by media and technology. As an inevitable example of thinking about art through the context of media, Vladan Radovanović is highlighted. who is the only theorist who systematically proposed a classification of art in relation to media. Through his theory of polymedia art, as an interdisciplinary form that synthesizes within itself synthesizes various disciplines with the aim of achieving "total art," and the visionary thoughts of Marshall McLuhan on media, we will try to find an answer to the question of the possibilities and significance of media the for the development of art. I will interpret hybrid artworks that have emerged from the integration of different media using the method of textual analysis and interpretation, which allows for their semantic, narrative, and sensory extension in the site, in which we will explain the significance of media possibilities in relation to art.

Teorija organizacije u novom digitalnom okruženju

Teorija organizacije u novom digitalnom okruženju

Momčilo Bajac, Lazar V. Stošić, Aleksandra B. Sančanin

Scientific article

Tehnologija distribuirane knjige (DLT), uz pomoć veštačke inteligencije i pametnih ugovora omogućava uspostavljanje organizacije bez menadžmenta ili zaposlenih, potpuno konstruisanu korišćenjem koda.

Text mining: Clustering using bert and probabilistic topic modeling

Text mining: Clustering using bert and probabilistic topic modeling

Kavitha D., Anandha Mala G.S., Padmavathi B., Varshni S.V.

Scientific article

In order to find significant patterns and fresh ideas, free-form content is transformed into structured format using a process known as text mining or text data mining. It enables businesses to easily locate important information in texts like emails, social media posts, support requests, chatbots, and other sorts of text. Text mining enables businesses to anticipate possible threats from rivals, react quickly to production or delivery problems, and provide more individualised customer service. Businesses employ text mining for a range of functions, including production, IT, marketing, sales, and customer service. By carefully examining the phrases used in the source texts, topic modelling aims to pinpoint the recurrent themes in a corpus. These concepts are known as “topics”. As a result, textual data may be measured and used in quantitative analysis. In this sector, there are several subject modelling kinds that differ from one another based on a few unique traits and criteria. In our paper we have represented mainly 3 types of topic modelling techniques namely Latent Semantic Analysis (LSA), Hierarchical Dirichlet Process (HDP), and Latent Dirichlet Analysis (LDA) and calculated the coherence score of each method and compared them. And we have infused the concept of BERT with this topic modelling models and proposed a new model called HDP BERT and calculated the coherence Score and clusters the topics. At the end the n-grams features are applied to all 4 models and compared among each other in bases of uni, bi and trigram rate percentage.

The aesthetics of post-authenticity in the era of generative artificial intelligence (AI)

The aesthetics of post-authenticity in the era of generative artificial intelligence (AI)

Stevan Lutovac, Branka Bešević Gajić

Scientific article

This paper explores the emergence of the aesthetics of post-authenticity through a theoretical synthesis of Lev Manovich's concept of the "database" and Rolan Barthes' thesis on the "death of the author," analyzing their reflection in the era of generative artificial intelligence (AI). Starting from Manovich’s assertion that the database represses narrative as the dominant cultural form, the paper defines generative models as automated systems that reduce the creative process to algorithmic recombination within massive data sets. In the second part, the paper reactivates Barthes' "death of the author," pointing out that generative AI represents a radical fulfillment of this theory: the author is no longer a subject with intention, but a "scriptor" who operates within an infinite cosmos of quotes (data sets). Instead of originality created ex nihilo, the aesthetics of post-authenticity shifts the focus to the process of filtering and combining data. In the path of AI technologies, authenticity does not completely disappear, as the user/creator still provides inputs for the creation; the aesthetics of post-authenticity is defined as a specific media realization through a database, thereby transferring responsibility for meaning entirely from the creator to the user.
