Socio-psychological support for children from immigrant families

The article states that in our society there is a trend towards inter-ethnic segregation, isolation, often turning into uncompromising attitude and ethnic intolerance. A special attention to the development of culture of inter-ethnic interactions and harmonization of ethnic relations at the modern stage is explained by the need to maintain the strength of the nation. The problems of education and upbringing of a child in a multi-ethnic environment today are relevant all over the world. This is primarily due to the growth of the importance of ethnic identity in the conditions of the internationalization of the socioeconomic and political aspects of life. The article says that Krasnodar region is traditionally considered a region of increased migration activity, it is home to about 126 various ethnic groups, the proportion of migrants in the population has increased in the last decade. Problems of interaction between migrants and the local population exist and tend to exacerbate, having the character of inter-ethnic tensions and conflicts. And this attitude towards migrants is transmitted to schools, affecting children of immigrants that cannot but affect their schooling and their attitudes towards post-secondary education. The article describes the results of a comprehensive program of socio-psychological support for children from immigrant families that aimed at overcoming the crisis of social and psychological problems, development of confident behavior skills, selfesteem, self-attitude, self-acceptance, positive social personality development. This study demonstrates the need to develop programs and models of multicultural education for multi-ethnic schools where different cultures are in constant direct interaction and the number of which is increasing worldwide as well as for a relatively culturally homogeneous schools.
