Status and prospects of volunteer activity in Uzbekistan

Today, the concepts of “volunteering” and “civic engagement” are widely used in scientific fields (political science, history, psychology, philosophy, pedagogy, sociology, economics) and political discussions. Although the phenomenon of “volunteering” has been the subject of various interdisciplinary studies, there is still no consensus on what it means in a holistic sense. In the scientific literature, various variants of the category of civic activity are used. However, functions that relate to its general characteristics are retained. This article discusses the features of volunteering, its role in public and public administration. Based on international experience, conclusions were drawn to further improve civic engagement and volunteering in Uzbekistan.
