This article reviews representation traditional culture of Altai in Soviet socio-political discourse. Research is based on archival records, central and periodic press materials. Author elicits main ideologemes of Soviet ethno-political discourse: undevelopment of “aboriginal population ” before October revolution, russification policy of Altai ecclesiastical mission, the idea of break with the past, motive of peoples’ friendship and surmounting of economic and cultural undevelopment under the guidance of Soviet government. The form of presentation «the victory of the new system» steel exhibition at various levels among the indigenous peoples of Siberia (including Altai), representing the past and present of the region.
