The article offers for the first time a comparative analysis of the ballet "Giselle" by A. Adan, based on the libretto based on the German legend by H. Heine, and a number of paintings by the German painter C. D. Friedrich. The parallel study of images created in choreography and painting allows us to identify associations and Parallels between different and simultaneously similar works in synchronous and diachronic consideration. The focus is on the analysis of artistic images of nature as a component of individual (choreographic and pictorial) poetic and symbolic models of mystical beauty. The author draws attention to the innovations in ballet theater and in painting of the romantic era, which found a natural balance in the principles of spatial organization between all the components of the performance and the painting. It is shown that they work at the junction of the figurative romantic idea as a powerful psychological tool.
