The article discusses the works of the contemporary British author Adam Thorpe in the aspect of study of modern British literature in Russian universities. The emphasis is on the stories of the writer, as the works of minor forms can be fully and comprehensively studied in English lessons. The study of short stories by Adam Thorpe will allow students of Russian universities not only to get acquainted with amazing examples of modern British literature, but also to acquire important knowledge in the field of country studies, intercultural communication, not to mention the value of the short stories from the point of view of the language itself.
