New media technologies in teaching foreign and Latin languages at the medical university

Considering digital transformation in education, the use of e-learning resources in implementing curricula is becoming increasingly relevant. In this regard, multimedia technologies (MMT), which have a number of advantages, are gradually replacing conventional teaching methods. The article describes the experience of using MMTs in teaching foreign and Latin languages in the medical school.The article presents a typology of the most commonly used digital tools (virtual boards and test constructors) and the rationale for their application in practical classes when teaching foreign and Latin languages in the medical school.The study showed that Miro, Google Jamboard, Padlet and Ziteboard virtual boards are considered to be the most effective in teaching language courses. They have a wide range of opportunities for managing the material under study. Online Test Pad, Quizlet, EasyTestMaker and FreeOnlineSurveysare considered to be the most effective test constructors in language teaching and learning. These constructors possess a wide range of technical characteristics, for example, handling class presentations when teaching English, possibility to access via Internet to the needed information and material, to keep, transfer and arrange the transmitted and received information. These constructors proved to contribute to developing the needed foreign language competence in students affecting their different receptors through a range of information channels resulting in the intensification of mental processes (perception, attention, memory, thinking), increasing the interest in the studied material and digital technologies as well as their active learning.
