Modern methods and tools of online learning: the Chinese language for foreign students

The pandemic has turned online learning into a common form of educational activity for students. Due to the absence of time and space constraints, online learning has been actively used in teaching Chinese to foreign students worldwide. Considering the objective risks of online learning (internet accessibility, time differences), attention is drawn to the need of maintaining students' learning motivation and search for effective methods and tools for online teaching. Surveys and interviews among Chinese teachers have revealed difficulties in organizing online classes, including the lack of administrative support from universities. Means and methods of improving the quality of online learning are discussed: the development of online resources for collaborative use, the enhancement of teachers' digital competencies, the updating of forms and methods of organizing independent work for students, the development of tasks that activate practical cognitive activities of students. Thus, teachers have the opportunity to learn and use new teaching methods and tools. Effective online learning requires solving problems related to unstable internet connection, choosing and adapting online platforms, organizing interactivity, and monitoring students' learning activities.
