Specificity of formation of discursive-analytical competence of future political scientists

The problem of formation of discursive-analytical competence of specialists in the field of political science is considered on the example of working with texts in English. The concept of “discourse” is specified, defined as a text together with extralinguistic features of its generation, communicative situation, relationships between communicants. The definition of discursive-analytical competence is given as the ability to deeply read and analyze the text with a layer-by-layer opening of its semantic layers, designed for various categories of the target audience. It is noted that a deep reading of the text, achieved by referring to the cultural and historical background, hidden allusions, references and implicit information, allows for a deep and complete understanding of the communicative intention of a politician, to predict the further strategy of his actions. An algorithm for working with future political scientists is proposed, aimed at forming and improving the competence in question. The presented method of analyzing an oral presentation can be extrapolated to other types of texts.
