Specifics of ageism manifestation in the modern russian reality

Ageism as discrimination against older people based on their chronological age is a common everyday social practice that negatively affects the quality of life of people aged 65+ and the development of society as a whole. The article aims to determine how the new social reality that emerged in Russia in the early 20s of the 21st century affects the manifestation of ageism. The article is based on the analysis of the results of a sociological study conducted by the authors, the respondents of which were people 65+. The article concludes that the intensifying digitalisation of society; the COVID-19 pandemic and the implementation of the SWO in Ukraine have led to an increase in ageism on the part of the social environment of older people, as well as their ‘internal’ ageism
