The article compares lexical synonyms expressing concept “compassion” in German, Spanish and English. Comparative analysis of the concept in the three languages is presented; some parallels with Russian are given. It is demonstrated that emotions designated by the concept are verbalised under the influence of national cultures and language traditions.
