This article is devoted to the investigation of one of the founders of the ideological trend of the Slavophiles - A. S. Homyakov. The article examines how the formed ideological and artistic views of the thinker. In disputes between so-called Westerners and Slavophiles A. S. Homyakov philosophy became an original argument. Slavophiles in circumstances where the official doctrine actually could not give an answer to the question what is the “popular” Russian, were practically a monopoly in this matter. Their concept is consistent positive ideals of the Russian people. Some thoughts Homyakov relevant today, when Russia is on rethinking their spiritual values. If the crisis in this sector to some extent been overcome, it nevertheless remains a problem than to fill the vacuum in the spiritual life of the Russians. Either Western benchmarks or consult the country’s history. Almost exactly the same argument was half a century ago in the intellectual circles of Russia.
