This study deals with the coping strategies of junior medical students who find themselves in conditions of forced social isolation, as follows: positive cognitive coping strategies; positive reassessment of negative events; positive actions to control stress; negative coping strategies; relatively adaptive coping strategies. The relevance of the study is justified by the demand for studying strategies for overcoming adverse life situations among students, because the ability of students to meet the requirements of a medical university and cope with difficult situations affects their psychological and mental well-being. It is revealed that students who use adaptive coping strategies in difficult life situations have the ability to calmly and deliberately solve their problems. A difficult life situation is resolved through a change in attitude toward it and is perceived as the next stage of self-development. Students try to regulate their feelings and actions, which leads to a more meaningful and effective awareness of problems and difficulties, the gradual development of intellectual coping strategies. On the one hand, adaptive coping strategies reduce stress and serve as an emotional adaptation to it in difficult life situations; on the other hand, a change in attitude distracts from solving specific practical problems. When using negative coping strategies, students are characterized by passive forms of behavior with a refusal to overcome difficulties due to a lack of confidence in their own strengths and intellectual resources.
