The article deals with the national and cultural specific features of the comprehension of the colour naming “braun” in the German world picture. There is emphasized the role of the pragmatic function while nominating the colour shadows in the spheres of fashion and advertising. There is analyzed the quality and quantity content of the microsystem “braun” in the German catalogues, the semantics of the peripheral shadow names created by the comparison with the subjects of the outside world.
