The authors formulate the principles of the functioning of online communities of the students of the scientific and technical orientation. There is built the structural model of the educational activities in such communities consisting of the cognitive, searching, communicative and productive and technological components. The connection between components and their content are defined by the specific character of the scientific and technical activities and the principles of the functioning of the studied communities.
