The features of the rhetorical structures of abstracts of scientific articles published in Biotechnology journals are considered. Randomly selected abstracts from issues for 2019-2020, including journals with high impact factor were analyzed. Structural features that can be considered as conventional ones in the implementation of options for the rhetorical structures characteristic of Biotechnology research article abstract were described. The structural and semantic characteristics of the Background section were analyzed.
