The article presents the results of a study of the subjective age of prisoners convicted of various types of crimes, violent and mercenary. Subjective age is understood as a person’s inner feeling of their age, which may not coincide with their real biological age. The purpose of the study is to study the peculiarities of the subjective age of those convicted of mercenary and violent crimes, taking into account their socio-demographic characteristics. As a result (N=296), significant differences in subjective age indicators were revealed between prisoners convicted of mercenary and violent crimes. Those convicted of mercenary crimes perceive themselves to be younger and assess the age of their interests as younger, which may be due to the less destructive force of economic offenses for a person compared to violent crimes. It may also indicate a more pronounced flexibility of thinking and a greater susceptibility to rehabilitation programs for those convicted of mercenary crimes.
