Fostering patriotism through love for the small homeland in the university education

The article considers issues related to the currently relevant area in the field of education – fostering patriotism in university students, which is one of the key principles of state policy in the system of higher education. Analysis of scientific literature in the field of patriotiс education over the past three years has revealed significant interest in the problem and, at the same time, revealed a number of gaps associated with new approaches to the problem of patriotiс education and the search for their solution. Based on the concept of patriotism as a value attitude of a person to his Fatherland and small homeland, the study aimed to develop a pedagogical technology for fostering patriotism through love for the small homeland in the edu-cation process of the university, taking into account the regional component. To achieve the goal, theoretical methods of analysis of psychological and pedagogical literature in the field of patriotic education, analysis of legislative and regulatory documents in the field of higher education related to the problem of patriotic education, the method of pedagogical design, as well as questionnaires, observation and pedagogical experiment were used. The novelty of the study lies in the development and implementation of a pedagogical technology for fostering patriotism through love for the small homeland using interdisciplinary connections and synthesis of curricular and extracurricular activities of participants in university education, designed on the principles of the human-oriented system-synergetic methodology of G.N. Serikov. The content, forms and methods of classroom and extracurricular work of each of the three stages of the pedagogical technology can serve as a basis for designing education technology in the educational process of other universities and further research on the problem of patriotic education.
