The research analyzes the present-day targets and assessment practices of students’ educational outcomes in the field of non-formal education of children. This analysis is carried out in the context of three basic ideas about the essence of the educational outcome: 1) as a standard learned by students; 2) as a mode of action mastered by them to solve specific tasks; 3) as an opportunity to make the independent progress towards the individual educational path The educational program used in the non-formal education of children and the instructions to develop it are reviewed from these perspectives. The research presents the findings of a survey of non-formal educators conducted to study their views on the essence of the educational outcome as an educational phenomenon, the subjects of its targets and assessment, the sources of knowledge, and the nature of difficulties faced by teachers when implementing educational programs.
