Theoretical foundations of organic agriculture in the Republic of Uzbekistan

According to the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL) and the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM), more than 72.3 million hectares of Land are currently used in accordance with the principles of organic agriculture, which is approximately 1.5 percent of the total agricultural land in the world. Today, organic agriculture is recognized as the most sustainable and least destructive approach to farming, since organic producers use natural agricultural methods and modern scientific knowledge in the field of ecology, thereby striving to improve the ecosystem as much as possible for the long term, increase its productivity and product quality. The article provides definitions of the term “organic agriculture”, highlights the principles and methods of organic agriculture, and also identifies the problems that hinder the development of the market of organic agricultural products.
