The author attempts to provide a theoretical analysis of the determination of social activity. The paper discusses the possible relationship of social activity with propensity to risk. The latter is regarded as an integral personal characteristic that implies the internal readiness for such activity and as a value-based activity determined by risk. The pilot study involved 50 people. The purpose of the research was to confirm or disprove the hypothesis about the interaction between personal propensity to risk and preferred social activity. The study identifies that risk-taking propensity is associated with altruistic, protest, and leisure social activity. The propensity to risk is correlated with social, religious, and spiritual activity as well. This theoretical and empirical research offers prospects for the empirical study of social activity and its psychological determinants.
