Migration processes and international interuniversity student exchange programs actualize the psychological problems of adaptation of foreign students. The demand for a practice-oriented approach in the study and creation of support programs for foreign students within the framework of higher education makes the present study relevant. The presence of contradictions and limitations in the theoretical and empirical studies of past years indicates the insufficient set of conditions and variables that would describe the mechanisms of adaptation process in the conditions of international students' stay in the host country. The article highlights the he areas of application of theoretical and methodological approaches within a variety of industries. A detailed analysis of modern domestic and foreign research is presented in terms of describing the directions of international students' adaptation to foreign-cultural educational conditions. An overview of publications on the topic revealed the need for systematic consideration of dynamic indicators of adaptation, and clarification of specifics and psychological levels of students' integration into a foreign educational environment.
