The article deals with the issue of teaching the professional terminology of future artists in the field of the traditional applied arts and the methods of the work with the terminological units at the classes of foreign language in the universities of the traditional applied arts. There are described the stages composing the professional foreign competence of the artists, there are comprehended the issues appeared in teaching terminology. There is concluded about the reasonability of the usage of these teaching methods.
