Текст научной статьи The use of computer technology in learning the language

Currently, we are observing an active process of informatization in the field of education, which involves the intensive implementation and application of new information technologies, the use of all means of communication, contributing to the formation of an intellectually developed creative person who is well oriented in the information space, ready for self-development and application of this knowledge in future professional activities .

It is already difficult to imagine modern higher education without the use of information technology. This is not only new technical means, but also new forms and methods of teaching, a new approach to the learning process. The main purpose of teaching foreign languages in non-linguistic universities is the formation and development of a communicative culture of students, training in practical mastery of a foreign language

It’s easy to master a foreign language in an communicative cultural environment of the language studied. Therefore, the teacher needs to create real and imaginary situations of communication at the lessons, using various methods and techniques (discussions, role-playing games, creative projects, etc.). Here, the teacher resorts to services of information technologies, such as:

  • •    interactive whiteboards,

  • •    electronic textbooks and manuals demonstrated using a computer and a multimedia projector,

  • •    educational resources of the Internet,

  • •    DVD and CD discs with pictures and illustrations,

  • •    video and audio equipment,

  • •    interactive conferences and competitions,

  • •    materials for distance learning,

  • •    research and development projects.

  • •    distance learning.

The purpose of information technology training, like any pedagogical technology, is to find ways to process and transmit information to better master the language by the students. Information technology has a number of opportunities to intensify the educational process, namely: a computer as a means for storing information, simulating and modeling the processes studied, individualization and differentiation of training, a means of assessing, accounting and recording knowledge. Advantages of using a computer in training over traditional classes:

  • •    Information technology significantly expands the possibilities of presenting educational information;

  • •    The use of color, graphics, sound, all modern means of video technology allows you to recreate the real situation of activity;

  • •    A computer can significantly increase the motivation of students to learn;

  • •    ICT involve students in the educational process, contributing to the widest disclosure of their abilities, enhancing mental activity;

  • •    The use of ICT in the educational process increases the possibilities of setting learning tasks and managing the process of their implementation;

  • •    ICTs allow a qualitative change in the control of student activities, while ensuring the flexibility of managing the educational process;

  • •    The computer contributes to the formation of reflection in students;

  • •    The training program enables students to visualize the result of their actions.

The use of computers in foreign language classes significantly increases the intensity of the learning process. In computer training, much more material is absorbed than was done during the same time in the context of traditional training. In addition, material is more firmly absorbed when using a computer.

Let’s speak about another means that also has a positive effect on learning a language- a projector. A projector has many advantages over traditional visual aids. Using a projector, an A4 format image can be transferred to a large screen.

Image sizes may vary depending on the distance from the projector to the screen. In addition, the image is highlighted and perceived more easily. So, using the projector during teaching you can work with presentations both on lexical and grammatical topics, as well as watch videos better visualizing the presented material to students.

One of the effective means of interactive teaching is an interactive whiteboard. The interactive whiteboards fosters the creative use of material. The development and use of tasks created using the interactive whiteboard software allows the teacher to use different learning styles at the lesson, helps to create meaningful and visual lessons, develops students' motivation, provides them with more opportunities to participate in teamwork, and to develop personal and social skills.

Learning with the use of Internet technologies contributes to the development of critical and creative thinking which is formed while problematic presentation of the material, and push the learner for an additional search of the necessary information, a comparison of opposing points of view, and the search for an original solution to the problem. The capabilities of the Internet determine various tasks that can be solved in the educational process. The most important tasks that can be realized when teaching a foreign language through Internet technologies for ESP are the following:

  • -    the formation and improvement of language skills and development of foreign language communication skills in various fields and situations;

  • -    development of skills of independent and research work of students through specially organized activities using Internet technologies, which contributes to the initiation of independent activities and the elimination of gaps in knowledge, skills;

  • -    increasing motivation and the need for learning a foreign language;

  • -    implementation of an individual approach where a teacher has an opportunity to take into account the individual characteristics of students;

The introduction of ICT contributes to the achievement of the main goal of modernization of education - improving the quality of education, increasing the availability of education, ensuring the harmonious development of the individual.

The introduction of new information technologies in the educational process improves the quality and effectiveness of training, makes it possible to implement a differentiated approach to teaching students, taking into account their individual characteristics. Means of new information technologies allow for the interaction between the teacher and the student in an interactive mode. This interaction facilitates the exchange of information. The purpose of teaching a foreign language for ESP is the communicative activity of students, that is, practical knowledge of a foreign language. And the teacher’s task is to intensify the activities of each student in the learning process, to create situations for their creative activity. The use of computer information technology by teachers allows us to solve these problems.
