Toponyms of the Oymyakon ulus of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia): linguistic and cognitive aspect

The article studies the linguistic and cognitive features of the toponyms of the Oymyakon Ulus of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). Oymyakon Ulus is located in the east of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The languages of the toponymic base are mainly Yakut, Russian, in a lesser extent Even, Evenk and Yukaghir languages. We have revealed partial mixing of Yakut with Russian, Yakut with Even and Evenk languages in the process of Oymyakon toponyms formation. Toponyms are formed by morphological, lexico-syntactic, lexico-semantic and morphological-syntactic methods. The study has revealed the following cognitive matrix schemes of toponyms of the Oymyakon Ulus: 1) orientation in space; 2) qualitative features; 3) composition and features of vegetation; 4) composition and features of fauna; 5) features of relief; 6) features of hydrology; 7) soil features; 8) activity; 9) history, society and a human; 10) sacredness.
