Within the framework of the scientific interests of pedagogical axiology, there is a person as an open opportunity for educating the strongest and best qualities, to a significant number of which the author considers tragic optimism. Turning to the theory of values of the philosopher Viktor Frankl, the author aims to reveal the pedagogical content of optimism as a valuable quality of a person, formed in the process of acquiring life experience in overcoming suffering, internal and external crises, interpreting it as the spiritual stamina of a person who is able to bear responsibility for diffi ulties and steadfastly overcome them. overcome. It has been established that in the classification of values and meanings of the philosopher, tragic optimism is a conscious, responsible, courageous decision and is located in the category of relationship values that are acquired in practice. The tragic optimism of V. Frankl is understood by the author as the ability to overcome suffering, and if it is impossible to overcome it, as the ability to positively rethink it by identifying external opportunities and internal resources. Such optimism is unique and existential at the same time, which is important from a pedagogical point of view: in a world without support, one can form a sense of optimism, relying on oneself and maintaining balance in constant spiritual reasonable movement and positive change, finding oneself and life meanings. Some psychological techniques are proposed that are included in the treasury of not only psychotherapeutic, but also pedagogical practice of educating awareness, courage, stamina, spirituality, responsibility and optimism, respectively. It is noted that the manifestation of tragic optimism is one of the components of the creative and conscious activity of a person, a means of consolation and salvation in the conditions of action without support and hope for the future.
