Transformation of the legal statement of the term "document" in the conditions of the information society

The content of the document consists of information, information, data on various events, actions, facts, powers, obligations and other circumstances of legal significance. A significant part of the information is legal facts that affect the emergence, change or termination of legal relations, the content of the legal status of persons and must be documented in the manner prescribed by law. The importance of documenting information, fixing it on a certain medium, allows us to conclude the significance of the legal definition of a «document». And the information society, the development of instant communications suggest: an increase in the volume of created, processed and stored information, the development of new forms of identification and search for documents. The main form of presentation of information is a document in electronic format, which requires a fixation of its legal significance and force that is different from analog documents. However, there is still no legal harmonization or unambiguous opposition between the terms «electronic document» and «digital document». It is concluded that the document must retain its attributive properties of evidentiary and legal force, regardless of the form of presentation.
