Transposition of the lexeme poluchaetsya (it turns out): from verb to filler word (based on data from the National Corpus of the Russian Language)

The article explores the semantic and functional evolution of the lexeme poluchaetsya (it turns out) in contemporary Russian. Based on corpus analysis, the authors trace its transformation from a full-fledged verb to a commonly used filler word. The article examines the factors contributing to this shift, analyzes the functions of poluchaetsya (it turns out) in modern speech, and assesses its impact on speech quality and communicative effectiveness. Findings from the National Corpus of the Russian Language (NCRL) indicate a clear trend toward the functional degradation of the lexeme poluchaetsya (it turns out). Its ability to implicitly convey meanings relevant to contemporary society, its syncretic and multifunctional nature, and its colloquial character all contribute to its frequent use as a discourse marker in modern texts.
