Difficulties of actors of the educational process while teaching foreign language listening

The paper deals with the problems of teaching listening comprehension. The importance of listening in learning English as a second language is emphasized. Having listening skills and abilities provides an opportunity to understand the content of the text, to establish logical links between facts, events, phenomena, to guess the meaning of unknown language units, to determine the subject of the message, to distinguish primary and secondary information. It is a crucial part of communication which includes hearing and understanding the speaker’s utterances. The data were collected by means of survey and observation. The research analyzes the linguistic and non-linguistic problems faced by teachers/lecturers and trainees during this type of training. The study presents recommendations to solve the problems of listening comprehension and its effective training.
