Academic discipline “Information culture of personality” as a tool for adaptation of first-year students to study at a university: the experience of the MSIC

The article presents the experience of teaching the academic discipline “Information Culture of Personality” to first year students at the Moscow State Institute of Culture. This course is taught at most faculties of the Moscow State Institute of Culture to first year students from September 2023. The paper shows the importance of including this discipline in the program for first year students, as an effective tool to help higher school students to adapt to an unusual educational environment. The practice oriented nature of the course, designed to consolidate the theoretical knowledge acquired by students, is also emphasized. The semantic content of practical tasks aimed at students mastering the skills of information search in various electronic scientific libraries and databases, analytical and synthetic processing of information, as well as creating their own information product is revealed.
