The paper describes the learning and cognitive activity of a school teacher studying the modular course in Developing Teachers Readiness to Teach Controversial Issues of Historical Science in the continuing professional education institution. The delivery of training programs implies the personal and activity-based approach to the academic process. It helps a teacher master a course through perception, comprehension, understanding, synthesis, consolidation and application of the educational information during his training to teach controversial issues of historical science in general education. In the process of learning and cognitive activity, the teachers use such supporting learning tools, manuals and workbooks developed by the author as “Teaching Controversial Issues of Russian History (9th-16th Centuries)”, “Studying Controversial Issues of Russian History (1939-1945) in Grades 10-11 of a Specialized School”, and “Studying Controversial Issues of Historical Science in Grades 10-11 of a Specialized School”.
