Educational and training activities in the system of professional training for the service sector

In accordance with the new requirements of educational and professional standards, staff training for the service sector should have a competency-based approach and be practice-oriented. Russian universities face with the urgent task of modernizing educational technologies and material and technical resources that can ensure high competi-tiveness in the labor market of future specialists. One of the forms of practice-oriented training is a training activity, which involves the implementation of training tasks on the formation of complex skills in conditions simulating the professional environment. The Department of social and cultural service of Tver State University has accumulated significant experi-ence in the implementation of training for the hospitality industry. They implement training technologies based on a whole complex of educational laboratories and production units of the University. The laboratory of tourism is a training center for the design of excursion programs by students, tourist routes and research in the field of historical and cultural potential of the region. The museum and educational complex provides visual and methodological aids for the development of museum programs, acts as a platform for their testing. In the Souvenir workshop students study the technology of produc-tion of tourist, corporate and event Souvenirs; organization of master classes and exhibitions of Souvenirs in the framework of cultural events. Equipment serving class allows you to learn different ways of table setting, learn the rules of table etiquette and guest service. The exhibition auditorium «Russian hut» provides visual materials of student exhibition pro-jects and the organization of master classes on peasant culture. Art buffet «Kafedra» is a training enterprise catering for developing the technology of guest service in the form of training, role-playing games, workshops and tastings. The suc-cessful participation of students of the direction «Service» of Tver State University in competitions of professional skills and high level of employment of graduates confirm the effectiveness of educational and training technologies.
