The article is an attempt to reconstruct the content of the lost monograph by Archpriest Feodor Andreyev (1887-1929), devoted to the evolution of views of the Slavophile Yuri Samarin from Hegelianism to the Orthodox faith. Written in the pre-revolutionary years by the philosopher and theologian Feodor Andreyev, Associate Professor of the Moscow Theological Academy, this practically completed book about the well-known representative of Slavophilism was confiscated by the OGPU in 1930 during the arrest of the deceased archpriest’s widow. On the basis of a limited number of surviving historical sources a gradual development of the research work on Samarin’s theology and philosophy from a candidate dissertation to the interruption of work on the monograph during the revolution is traced. The article also provides an outline of the spiritual life and service to the Church of Archpriest Feodor Andreyev after the revolution and closing of the theological academies as Professor of the Theological Institute in Petrograd in 1920-23, a priest since 1922, and a prominent figure of the Josephite movement at the end of his life.
