The problem of personal characteristics of a self-confident person is relevant both in scientific and practical terms. On the one hand, ongoing debates persist in psychology regarding the ambiguous conceptualiza-tion of the construct “self-confidence”. On the other hand, the practice of educating adolescents – who are tasked with one of the most critical developmental challenges: preparing for professional activity – necessitates the devel-opment of diagnostic and developmental methods for psychological features essential for individuals in adolescence to become mature, self-assured personalities. This article provides a theoretical analysis of self-confidence as a psychological phenomenon and substantiates the possibility of its study through a typological approach. This ap-proach involves distinguishing between two personality types based on the criterion of self-confidence: the confident personality type and the insecure personality type. It is proposed that in the personality structure, psychological components and their functions be identified as determinants that define an adolescent’s belonging to either the self-confident or insecure personality type.
