The article focuses on the analysis of hesitation phenomena (HP) in the Russian oral monologue-story told by Chinese people from a socio-psychological perspective. The article establishes a connection between HP in such a monologue and the socio-psychological characteristics of the speaker (including gender, level of proficiency in the Russian language, and psychological type), as well as determines which of these characteristics have the greatest influence on the occurrence of HP in the oral monologue. The source of material for analysis was 20 Russian monologue-stories on the topic "How do you spend your holidays?" taken from the corpus "Balanced Annotated Texts" (BAT), created and developed at Saint Petersburg State University. The conducted analysis has shown the presence of correlation between the level of proficiency in the Russian language by informants and their socio-psychological characteristics, on one hand, and the occurrence of HP in their speech, on the other. It has been also found that the proficiency level in the Russian language has the greatest influence on the frequency of HP occurrence, while the psychological characteristics of informants have an influence on the type of HP.
