Free access

This article examines the specifics of the visual transformation of culture and its impact on the contemporary Russian publishing system. The visual transformation of culture manifests itself in the increasing dominance of visual images over text. This is due to a number of factors, including the development of information technology and the emergence of new communication tools that allow for the rapid and easy dissemination of visual information, the increasing amount of visual information, and changes in the forms and methods of information perception. The impact of visual transformation manifests itself in aspects such as changes in the format, content, and distribution methods of publications. This applies to both print and electronic publications. Since visual images are perceived more effectively than text, publishers are increasingly using visual materials. The author concludes that bibliology, as a discipline that studies books and book publishing, should pay special attention to contemporary publishing practices.
