The article presents a brief description of the Lamansky family, who came from the village of Lamanikha in the Vologda province, where several generations of them served as clergy and sacristans in the local church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. At the end of the 18th century, Ivan Petrovich Lamansky moved to St. Petersburg and became the founder of a powerful branch of the family, which gave birth to a galaxy of major government and public figures who loved Russia and served it faithfully throughout the 19th century, and through their descendants, into the 20th century. The two most famous are Evgeny Ivanovich Lamansky, who reformed the financial system of Russia and participated in the organization of the country’s first State Bank, and Vladimir Ivanovich Lamansky, a Slavic scholar, philologist, historian, ethnographer, founder of the scientific school of Slavic studies, and a member of many public organizations that worked for the benefit of Russia. The presented history of the family of V. I. Lamansky and his descendants includes new, previously unpublished information and facts and makes it possible to trace how spiritual and cultural traditions were passed on over seven generations. The article was written by the great-granddaughter and great-great-granddaughter of V. I. Lamansky.
